| Self Description | | I am an intelligent, educated, kind, giving, caring, loyal, attractive, and extremely affectionate single father of a teenaged son who is going to college in two months. I work as a self-employed grantwriting/fundraising consulatnant who helps nonprofit organizations to obtain funding for their various programs. I also write business plans for individuals who are trying to start businesses from time to time. I grew up in the Charleston, South Carolina area, and graduated from Porter-Gaud, an excellent college preparatory school here. I then went to undergraduate school at Geeorgetown University and graduated with a degree in international studies. After working for a few years, i went back to graduate school at Howard University for my MBA with a concentration in marketing. I have worked in various positions in my career, including work on Capitol Hill on the staff of a former U.S. Senator, and for various trade associations and lobbying firmsin Washington. Upon returning to South Carolina, I held various positions in the orivate sector, the nonprofit sector, and in education. I started the consulting firm about five years ago. I enjoy dining out at nice restaurants, and enjoy ethnic foods in particular (Indian is one of my favorites). I also enjoy the arts, and can spend several hours browsing in art galleries. I enjoy travel, sporting events (especially college football and basketball), and concerts (jazz is my favorite music). I have raised my son as a single father since he was 5, and as I said earlier, he is now 18, and will be going to college in a few weeks. I did have lots of help from my mother with raising him, although she never lived in the same home with us. I also ha some help from my ex mother-in-law. My ex-wife lives in the Columbia, South Carolina area, and her relationship with him has gotten better an stronger over the last two or three years. The courts felt that I was a better and more stable parent because at that time, she was dealing with substance abuse issues and a lifestyle which she was not ready to stop until a few years later. Thankfully she is now fully drug free because she probably would have died had she stayed on the same path. My son was no the best student in high school, mainly because he did not apply himself and was a little lazy in terms of his studies.Some of the friends and acqaintances that he chose to be with, especiallly during his first two years of high school were also not the best influence on him. He and perhaps onbe or two more of these kids from that group are the only ones to go directly from high school to a four year college. Some are going to a two year community college here, and may or may not proceed to four year school. Others chose to leave school and get a GED certificate, and still others just dropped out when they were old enough by state law, so they have no diploma or GED. My son actually went to three different high schools; Bishop England, the Catholic high school here, West Ashley the public high school in our area, and finally Burke, a smaller public high school from which he ultimately graduated. I almos sent him to a boarding school when he left West Ashley, but he did turn things around at Burke. His SAT scores are ultimately what got him into the scchools at which was accepted.He also received a partial football scholarship to several schools. In terms of appearance many people say that I resemble the actor Cuba gooding, Jr. Others have Denzel washington, or a young Muhammed Ali. I am not sure if I look exactly like any of these men, I can only say that I have all of my teeth, a nice smile, an no woman has ever run in the other direction after seeing me for the first time! :) LOL I seek an attractive, kind, giving, caring woman, one who has the same characteristics that I do. I generally prefer caucasian or hispanic women because that is who is normally attracted to me. The age range would be 38 to 55, but I can go a little younger or a little older. |
